Jakalope @ The Powerplant

Jakalope TicketThe show last night was awesome, and that is through the fact that it was -40C outside with the wind-chill and a good foot of snow on the ground. The show was supposed to start up around 9PM as I was told by one of the bartenders and event organizers, but due to the snow storms in British Columbia and the bad weather, Jakalope was delayed. Some people were even saying that the show might be cancelled, we true fans stuck it out and waited until nearly 11PM! Katie B announced part way through the show that they had left Vancouver (where they are based) Monday at 1PM and it took them over 30hrs to get to Edmonton. Even though they had driven all that long way, they still kicked it, and had the crowd going with them. Katie pulled out the acoustic guitar for Feel It and she did marvelously, this was the first time they had done that and we were very proud. The set list was as such: (thanks to lightafternight at The Jakalope Fan Forums)

Anthem 2
Instigator
Creeper
Go Away
Digging Deep
Screecher
Pretty Life
Throw It Away
Star 24
Get It Back
Feel It
Upside Down
Code 4

For the first encore we were treated to Tell Me Why, Don”t Cry (my favourite track off of It Dreams), and Bad Dream, and for the last encore Katie came on stage and sang Unsaid without Jeremy Fisher, but with the support of the crowd when she would forget the lyrics. It was so cute when she would say, “Oh I forgot!” and a few girls in front would sing the lyrics to her. What I enjoyed as well was Dave’s performance during Bad Dream when he accidentally pulled the cord out of the microphone, had to plug it back in and start up again. It was great, since he just laughed at himself and plugged the cord back in :D

Jakalope: Katie B AutographAfter the show there was much merch to be bought as well as Jakalope: Dave Ogilvie Autographautographs to be asked for. I purchased one of the new zip up hoodies with the Jakalope logo and I plan on buying a new t-shirt next time as well as a tuque. I was lucky enough this round to get both Dave and Katie to sign for me. I had Katie sign her poster from the Born4 insert and I asked Dave to sign the liner of my Born4 cover. (my real name has been blurred out for my own purposes, if you correctly guess my name and you do not know me or my friends, then email me and maybe I will make you a gift)
